EAST MONTGOMERY COUNTY FIREFIGHTERS HAVE A BUSY NIGHT

Just after midnight Monday a resident in the Country West Subdivision saw a glow on her front porch. When she went out to investigate she found the cushions of her porch swing burning. She was able to quickly extinguish it.

At 1:08 a.m. she was once again awaken by a pop outside. When she looked out a mobile home one the opposite side of her home was on fire at the intersection of Country West and FM1485. Caney Creek, Central Montgomery County and New Caney Fire Departments responded. As the first trucks arrived they were met with heavy flames pouring out of a singlewide mobile home. Another trailer close to it was also being threatened as flames licked it and melted the skirting around it..

As crews first protected the exposures other crews worked to evacuate neighbors.

Within 30-minutes the fire was brought under control. The mobile home which had no power connected to it was abandon. Nobody was home at the home that received some fire damage next door.

As crews were working to put out hot spots heavy black smoke was noticed billowing from about 200 yards away on FM 1485. One truck was sent to a travel trailer with heavy fire coming from the rear. The owner who lived next door said he mainly used it for storage and there was no electricity to it.

As firefighters worked to extinguish it Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputies and DPS troopers patrolled the area for any other signs of fire.

The fires were suspicious in nature but the Montgomery County Fire Marshal will investigate all three and make a determination.

  1. Appears the New Year brought out a Bug… How Sad!

  2. Sounds like someone is up to no good. I cant really see someone running a muck and starting fires everywhere, but if they did, shame on them.

  3. In a race run between a Christmas tree and a trailer home to determine which burns to total consumption the fastest, a Christmas tree always wins… but only by 2 seconds or so.
