CRASH CLOSES DAW COLLINS ROAD

Just before 5 pm a male driver was southbound on Daw Collins from Morgan Cemetery in the Splendora area when he left the roadway , struck a utility pole and flipped the vehicle. The driver appears unhurt and refused medical attention. He passed field sobriety tests for DPS but the 7000 volt power line is still hot and down. Entergy has a pole crew enroute to replace the pole and restring the lines. At this time power remains on as they are going to try to keep it this way.

Daw Collins from FM 2090 to Morgan Cemetery will be closed until at least 8pm

But thank goodness for Dish  the football is not being missed by emergency crews as they await line repairs to get to the upside down vehicle in the woods.

  1. Yes thank god people can watch tv while theyre doing their jobs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. I can assure you that the Entergy guys worked as quickly as possible to recover the lines so that the other Emergency personnel could finish up what they needed to do. An underground crew had to be dispatched so that they could locate any underground lines, so that when they did dig to replace the pole they did not hit anything, so that Daw Collins residents wouldn’t end up without power, communication and who knows what else. Since they were most likely all home getting ready for the super bowl, since this took some time for the underground crew to arrive, having to go procure equipment and everything and then drive out to Daw Collins. They worked as quickly as possible, and yes the one of those Entergy men did miss the super bowl, along with everything else on TV, he missed reviewing the weekends events with his kids, putting his kids to bed, eating dinner and even welcoming one son home from overseas. He missed it all, but it’s his job and he does it with out complaining, even when he missed Christmas Morning this year too. So if he has everything safely secured waiting on personnel to come and clear him to work and is on standby with no duties to speak of he will stand on the side of the road, phone in hand, watching TV, chatting it up with our kids, or playing solitaire…And I am thankful for everyday he does it. You should be to.
