Sheriff Gage, thank you for being a 2nd Amendment proponent. And thank you for being CHL friendly to your law abiding citizens.

"Dark Skin". Really? Is this what we have come to? What happened to BLACK? This is getting ridiculous. Tell it like it is.

Routing for oversize loads is all put together in Austin. When an oversize or overweight single trip permit is ordered, the route is created in Austin by the TXDOT permit office. Texas is the worst for routing large loads on small roads. Mobile homes have an exemption of some sort that allows them to remain on freeways. I have hauled oversized loads across the state without ever touching an interstate freeway. Some of the roads I have had to use, I believe, placed the motoring public in more danger. I always had escorts, but they can't prevent everything from happening. The load in this story appears to not be oversized. Looks to me like there was a lapse in attention, going too fast, or a medical problem. I'm glad the driver and others are OK.

Bobby I realize that your question is probably rhetorical but it brings to mind something I have noted. That is Harris County must have something against the transportation of equipment and oversized loads. Because once unloaded at the ship channel it gets carried all the way around Harris to get to any points South. What it means to us who live in the Magnolia area, and anyone in Southern Montgomery County is you never know when you may be late to work due to a oversized load blocking an intersection, falling over, wrecking a train, or being involved in an accident on the highways that loop Harris County in ours. Sometimes it's several times a month. They must be only allowed to travel dawn till dusk because they hit Magnolia during peak traffic times. After living here over 30 years I accept that it's all part of the Magnolia traffic experience. Harris County usually has multiple paths of travel to get where you're going, we usually have one, without interconnecting side streets.
