PURSUIT ENDS IN CRASH FOR 2 TEENS THURSDAY MORNING

Two teens decided to go shopping Thursday morning on Paradise Point in the Calvary Road area of north Montgomery County. Checking vehicle to vehicle for any unlocked doors and items of value. That when they spotted the keys in a 2008 Toyota Titan and drove off in it.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office was called for the stolen vehicle report not much later.

A Montgomery County Deputy on routine patrol just after 4 a.m. got behind the vehicle when the driver panicked and accelerated to 115mph as they crossed Crockett Martin going west on SH 105. The deputy continued behind the vehicle at speeds at over 100 mph running through intersections and going into the city limits of Conroe. When the vehicle got to FM 3083 it turned north and as he accelerated ran into the ditch striking the FM 3083 sign and ripping guardrail out of the ground. He also lost a headlight.

The ditch didn’t stop him as he lost a drivers side tire he recovered and continued north on FM 3083 traveling through the intersection at over 80 mph. The pursuit continued north on FM 3083 and turned north on Airport Road continuing to the new FM 1484 where he missed the curve running down a TXDOT sign and going through the ditch onto FM 1484.

The truck continued to Anmar Road where the driver turned into a residential neighborhood of Deer Run.with sparks still flying from his left front wheel he turned onto Northridge and onto Roda which took him back out onto Waukegan Road.

The driver continued south on Willis-Waukegan at speeds over 60 mph driving on the wrong side of the road. The crossed SH 105 and continued down Waukegan until they approached FM 1485 where the driver lost control striking the ditch and flipping onto it’s side. A tree stopped him from going through a fence and into hundreds of propane bottles stacked in the Amerigas plant at that intersection.

As deputies approached the truck the two crawled out the back window where the roof had been crushed and were taken into custody.

Caney Creek Fire Department was dispatched to the scene along with MCHD to check the two drivers who were just scratched. The firefighters also had to cut the windshield to get to the ignition and turn the truck, which was still running, off.

Both were transported by deputies to Conroe Regional Medical Center for evaluation before the trip to jail.

The passenger was identified as being 15-years-old. The driver only 17.

The name of the 17-year-old has not yet been released.

The pursuit lasted just over 20 minutes in which tie they were able to travel 20 miles, 14 of that was with no left front tire.
