TRUCK CRASHES INTO UTILITY POLE
Several people in the New Caney and Porter area experienced short disturbances in power just after midnight Wednesday morning. A Ford F250 pickup was southbound on the I-69 (US59) feeder behind an 18-wheeler. That driver said he watched the truck behind him who was doing approximately the same speed as he was which was close to 55 miles per hour. The next thing he saw was a blue flash.
Ricky Ford with the Montgomery County Precinct 4 Constables Office was a short distance behind when he saw the truck leave the roadway with no brake lights. The truck ran into the ditch, hit the culvert pipe in front Redmond’s Mobile Home Supply and went air borne. The eruck then struck a utility pole approximately fifteen feet up knocking the transformer off the pole, rolled twice and landed in the ditch.
Montgomery County Precinct 4 Deputy Skero who was also behind the crash called for fire and EMS. “At first I thought it was a fatality until the guy crawled out the passenger side of the vehicle”, he said.
MCHD transported the 23-year-old driver in stable condition. Roberts Towing removed the vehicle as Entergy started the line repairs. DPS continues to investigate the crash.
